Gov. Mbah constitutes 7-man investigative committee on ESCET

Governor of Enugu State,  Dr. Peter Mbah, has constituted a 7-man  investigative committee on the Enugu State College of Education (Technical) ESCET.

Constituting the committee in Government House,Enugu on Thursday, October 26,2023, Governor Mbah , who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Chidiebere Onyia, charged members to look at the root cause of the challenges faced by the College and make recommendations .

“So this committee is supposed to dig deep and unravel the issues surrounding all these allegations and provide recommendations based on your findings,”

“The recommendations must be practical and pragmatic”, he said.

The Governor added the Committee has two weeks to submit it’s report.

The terms of reference given to the committee are as follows:

“To investigate grave allegations of mismanagement and corrupt administrative practices in the management of the institute and its Governing Council from 2019 to the present or another relevant period.

“To ascertain the veracity of the alleged undue recruitment process and probe the subsequent increase in the College’s monthly subvention.

“To throughly investigate the alleged fraud involving Bluetag Technologies, a financial firm contracted to collect fees for the College with unresolved issue of over N84 million.

“To provide recommendations based on their findings regarding the appropriate measures and actions to address the issues raised in a petition in the petition.

Members of the Committee are

 Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ndubueze Mbah ,Chairman, Barr. Onuora Okeke as Secretary, Rev. Fr. Ikechukwu Ani, Prof. Obiamaka Egbo,

Dr. Emma Onyeabor, Edmund Ngene, and Larry Oguego members.

Professor Onyia said., “It is our hope that members of this committee will bring to bear their experiences in carrying out this assignment and providing the right type of recommendations to the Governor so that our teaching and learning process and model in Enugu will be world-class.

Responding on behalf of other members, the chairman of the Committee, Prof Ndubueze Mbah, who was represented by the Permanent secretary, ministry of education, Martin’s Ochi, thanked Governor Mbah  for finding them worthy to serve.

 He assured that they would work according to the terms of reference given to them.
