Godfrey Okoye University, GoUni,Enugu, has released the degree examinations and the 2022/ 2023 2nd semester examinations results of the University.
Vice-chancellor of the University, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke announced the official release of the results at a press briefing held at the Thinker’s Corner Campus of the University on Wednesday, August 9,2023.
The Vice Chancellor said that out of the 450 students that took part in the degree examinations, 170 students have completed their academic programs while the remaining (230) are yet to complete their academic programs, having one outstanding course or two to clear before the final release of their grades.
He added that, out of the 170 students who have completed their academic programs, 8 graduated with first class honors, 71 students graduated 2nd class honors upper division, 81 students with 2nd class honors lower division while 10 students graduated with 3rd class honors.
The Vice-Chancellor said that the press briefing was aimed at updating parents with the development in the University and to inform students as well as parents especially those that have registered with the parents’ forum of the University, that they can now have access to their children’s or ward’s results on the university’s online portal.
While congratulating those who came out with flying colors, the Vice -Chancellor urged students who are among the 170 students that have completed their academic programs to proceed for their clearance.
He noted that the University has always been able to release resuls as and when due by following religiously its academic calendar as well as ensuring that examination results are produced and approved by the Senate, 2weeks after every examination.
The Vice -Chancellor disclosed that with the release of the results, 50 students of its law faculty who have completed their academic programs can now proceed to the law school while graduates of other faculties will be going for their Youth Service.
He stated that as has been the custom of the University, the overall best graduating student will be receiving cash rewards in addition to other prizes. He added that there will also be departmental prizes of a minimum of N50,000 as well as programs prizes for those who recorded outstanding performances in the respective programs.
While speaking on the mentorship program of the University, Anieke stressed that no student will remain anonymous in the University as they are assigned to respective memebers of staff to ensure close monitoring in order to bring out the best in the students.
The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the University is currently working to optimize it’s online and hybrid learning, with the installation of 4 smart boxes where such training and lectures can be held without the usual network glitches.
Rev Fr Prof Anieke announced that the next academic year 2023/2024 commences on the 3rd of October 2023, and that lectures were expected to commence a day after resumption. He encouraged those who want to join the university to apply without delay as late registration may affect one’s academic performance.
The Director of Communications of the University, Rev Fr Benjamin Achi, in his remark thanked the management for bringing the media and general public up to speed with the developments within the University.
Fr Achi, who also doubles as the manager of the Go-Uni Radio 106.9 FM equally thanked the members of the press for their presence.
