NUJ Enugu Council appreciates Enugu State Government ‘s cordial relationship, appeals to incoming administration to consider members for appointments

Enugu state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ, has applauded the cordial relationship between the Council and Enugu state government led by His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi.

This is contained in a communique issued at the end of the NUJ Congress held at Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi press centre,Enugu on Thursday,May 25th,2023.

The 4-Point Communique signed by Comrades Emmanuel Nweze, Sylvia Udegbunam and Mma Okonkwo and made available to Newslineglobal on Friday, May 26, also called on the incoming administration to extend the same hands of fellowship to the Union and consider members for appointments.

The Communique read in full:

COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AT THE END OF NUJ CONGRESS AT GOVERNOR IFEANYI UGWUANYI PRESS CENTER ENUGU ON THURSDAY MAY 25th 2023.

Rising from its May Congress, NUJ Enugu State Council led by Comrade Sam Udekwe after exhaustive deliberation about the state of the Council and the state resolves as follows:

1.The Council Urges the National Secretariat of NUJ to further strengthen efforts to ensure full remittance of check-off dues deducted from members of the Union in NTA, Radio Nigeria and News Agency of Nigeria to NUJ coffers instead of RATTAWU .

2.The Council appreciates the Enugu State Government for the cordial relationship that exists between them and calls on the incoming administration to extend the same hands of fellowship to the Union.

3.The Congress appeals to the incoming administration in the state to consider NUJ members for appointment into offices for them to contribute their quota to the development of the state.

4.The Congress urges the State Government to ensure peaceful transition before, during and after the hand over of baton to the incoming Government.
