Gov Ugwuanyi inaugurates multiple projects in Nsukka

Enugu state Governor, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi on Friday, May 26, inaugurated multiple projects- the Enugu State Secretariat Annex, Ede-Oballa, Conference Centre, Ede-Oballa, Stadium complex and the Nigeria Union of Journalists ,NUJ, Press Centre,Nsukka, all in Nsukka local government area of the state.

The secreatariate has 27 offices and other ancillary facilities. The multiple projects were constructed by Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration in keeping with his promises in his inaugural address to equip and modernise the university town of Nsukka.

Governor Ugwuanyi, received accolades from the civil servants through the Head of Service, Ken Chukwuegbo and the host community, Ede-Oballa, through traditional rulers of the four autonomous communities and Engr. Vita Abba, Peoples Democtratic Party ‘s House of Representatives candidate in the 2023 general elections and former state Chairman of the PDP.

In his remarks, the Head of Service thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for his vision, foresight and timely actualisation of the project. He said that the operationalisation of the State Secretariat Annex has reduced the travel distance of staff of the state’s public service zonal offices who no longer need to travel to Enugu on a regular basis for the conduct of their activities.

Speaking ,Governor Ugwuanyi said that the facility provides conducive environment for workers to discharge their duties comfortably.

He added that the secretariat annex has reduced cost, turnaround time and engendered efficiency in their operations.

Enugu North zonal offices of some Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) have been relocated to the newly constructed State Secretariat Annex, Nsukka, for cohesion and proper coordination of government’s administrative activities.

Dignitaries at the event include the Member representing Nsukka East Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedu Nwamba, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Greg Nnaji, former Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Dan Shere, Chairman of Nsukka LGA, Barr. Walter Ozioko, Chairman, Civil Service Commission Robinson Odoh, Deputy Chairman of Nsukka LGA, Mr. Sylvanus Asogwa, and former Commissioner for Housing, Hon. Ogbo Asogwa, Prof. Felix Asogwa, clergymen, traditional rulers, youth and women groups, among others.

Governor Ugwuanyi shortly after inaugurating the State Secretariat Annex, Nsukka , also inaugurated the Nsukka Conference Centre, adjacent to the Secretariat Annex.

The Conference Centre comprises multiple halls for conferencing as well as indoor sporting and recreational facilities including adult and children swimming pools, lawn tennis court, among others.

Inaugurating the Conference Centre, Governor Ugwuanyi urged the people of the area to avail themselves of the benefits of the project as well as its complementary recreational facilities.

The Governor also inaugurated a 5,000- seater capacity stadium and NUJ press centre , respectively.

He urged Journalists to always verify their facts and report objectively.

In an interview, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists,NUJ, Enugu state Council, Comrade Sam Udekwe, thanked Governor Ugwuanyi for his kind gesture to the NUJ. He said the press centre was built and equipped by Governor Ugwuanyi’s administration. The chairman added that the project was one of other assistances, the state Governor had rendered to NUJ,Enugu state council.
