Enugu Sports Club 1929, Friday, held festival of Carols and Nine lessons

Speaking at the event held at the Sports Club, G.R.A, Enugu, former Minister of Power, Prof Chinedu Nebo says the birth of Jesus Christ has shelved pains from mankind and liberated the world .

He assured Nigerians that though they were currently going through tough times, Christ’s birth has brought hope,joy and life to the world.

He appeals to people to embrace peace as Christ remains Prince of peace whose emergence (birth) brought accomplishment to man and holds the entire universe together.

Professor Nebo a former Vice Chancellor,UNN and Archdeacon in Anglican Church appealed to people to give God a chance in their lives as encounter with Jesus Christ meant liberation from bondage and sorrow.

He commended the Organisers of the maiden edition of the festival at the Club led by Sir Nnanna Victor Atuonwu noting that  the event was good and signifies light as well as progress in the club.

In a vote of thanks, the Executive Chairman of Enugu Sports Club,Sir Victor Atuonwu thanked the President of the Club and Executive Governor of Enugu State,Dr Peter Mbah’s for his support to the club .

He also appreciated those who attended the festival, those who read the lessons, including the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism,Dame Ugochi Madueke,Lorretta Aniagolu of FIT Consult,Former Chairman of the Club,Dr Richard Agu , the leader of the Choir,Mr Nonso Offia.

Atuonwu appealed to those who want to register with the club to do so.

The festival ended with Hallelujah chorus and night Conviviality.

Present at the event were the Bishop of Enugu North East Methodist Church Nigeria,His Lordship Osondu Ekweremadu, former Speaker of Enugu State House of Assembly,Chief Edward Ubosi,CEO of Auto Star,Chief Onyemuche Nnamani,Vice Chairman of Enugu Sports Club, Barrister Ifeanyi Nweke, South East Zonal Director of News Agency of Nigeria, Mrs Maureen Atuonwu among others.
