Mbah inaugurates Transition Committee

Enugu State Governor-elect, Dr Peter Mbah, on Thursday, inaugurated Transition Committee he appointed for smooth transition of Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi government to his administration on May 29, 2023.

Speaking during the event which held at Old Government lodge,Enugu, said that  their blueprint to transform Enugu State is achievable.

He expressed optimism that the 64-man committee, made up of technocrats, transparency and accountability advocates, financial and management experts, entrepreneurs, as well as tech and innovation specialists would apply their vast experiences, expertise and ideas in developing a policy and action plan for his incoming administration.

He said,”Today in Enugu, I inaugurated our Transition Committee led by Engr Ike Chioke. I feel honoured to have some of our best brains accept to serve our dear State in this regard. Among them are technocrats, transparency and accountability advocates, financial and management experts, entrepreneurs, as well as tech and innovation specialists.

“With their vast experiences, expertise and ideas, the committee will dissect my developmental plans for Enugu State and translate them into policies and action plans with specific deliverable timelines.

 “With the vision we have, Enugu will take the enviable position it occupied in terms of development.

“I know doubters and critics may doubt our plans to transform Enugu, but we believe that they can be achieved because they are achievable”.

Mbah also said that their plans to provide jobs for the teeming youths of the state and equip them with digital skills could be achieved when their plans were put into action which the Committee would help to fine-tune.

“We are resolved to see that our plans are realised.  We are fully committed to the ease of doing business to make Enugu enviable,” he said.

Speaking, the Chairman of the Committee, Engineer Chioke, charged Mbah to hit the ground running to ensure that within 180 days, Enugu people would feel the impact of a new government.

“The honour you will do for us, the Transition Committee, is that in 100 days, you would have done something tangible to show that indeed tomorrow is here,” he said.

The Co-chairman of the Committee and the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) Professor Simon Ortuanya said that they, as a government, would do everything possible to ensure a seamless transition and to equally do anything possible to assist the incoming administration.

He charged Mbah to have tall dreams like the former leaders such as Zik, Okpara had about Ndigbo to transform Enugu.

Goodwill message was received from Professor of Political Economy and Management, Pat Utomi,  via zoom, He  recalled his days at the  University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and Enugu metropolis.
