Enugu state Police Command says it’s operatives have arrested 7 criminal suspects in a raid in Enugu.
Police public relations officer of the Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe disclosed this in a statement he made available to newsmen on Tuesday, October 31
He said the arrest followed the directive of the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, Kanayo Uzuegbu, that
Police should carry out a raid at Holy Ghost area and Christ Chemist.
The statement read:: ” Police Operatives of the Command serving in the Central Police Station (CPS), in the evening hours of Friday, October 27, 2023, raided Holy Ghost railway axis, Christ Chemist, Old Park, and environs, arresting seven (7) male suspects notorious for attacking and dispossessing innocent and unsuspecting citizens of their belongings.
The suspects
“The suspects include: Okonkwo Sunday (a.k.a. “Oga Sunny”), aged 35; Nwankwoala Tochukwu (a.k.a. “TC Boy”), aged 25; Ogbu Mmaduabuchi, aged 18; Miracle Chukwu, aged 20; Nwali Chinedu, aged 23; Ananchonam Chinecherem (a.k.a. “Razor”), aged 18; and Nwamini Junior (a.k.a. “Small”), aged 20, all of no known address.
“Exhibits recovered include nine (9) female handbags, two (2) wallets, two (2) wheel spanners, one (1) iron saw, one (1) serviceable Dell laptop, one (1) Zenith Bank ATM card bearing “Joy Akiji”, one (1) NIN registration slip, and other incriminating exhibits all snatched from the unsuspecting victims.
“The suspects all confessed to the crime and have been arraigned in court and remanded in the Correctional Custodial Centre.
“Meanwhile, the CP has commended and charged the operatives to maintain the tempo while enjoining the citizenry to remain supportive of the Police in their efforts to root out unrepentant criminals in Enugu State.” Ndukwe said.
