Board member of the Nigeria Basketball Federation, NBBF, Colonel Sam Ahmedu rtd, has been re-elected as the President of the Federation of International Basketball Association, FIBA, Africa Zone 3 for a third tenure.
The election was conducted at the FIBA Africa Congress held at the Hotel Polana Serena in Maputo, Mozambique last Saturday. Colonel Ahmedu who was also voted as member of the FIBA Africa Central Board and has been in office since 2023 will still be in office for the next four years.
Speaking after the election, Ahmedu expressed gratitude to the Almighty God for the success. He also thanked everyone who supported him.
On his part, FIBA executive council member, Abdellatif Hatim from Morocco who supervised the process, congratulated the president, saying that Ahmedu’s re-election was as a result of immense hard work and dedication towards the development of the game in the zone.
The eight countries that participated in the zone 3 elections were Nigeria, Ghana, Niger, Liberia, Togo, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast and Benin Republic.
Ahmedu, who is the proprietor of Dodan warriors basketball program is also the chairman of the Benue state Basketball Association.
