NIS assures support for Mbah’s administration, strengthening of security in Enugu

Nigeria Immigration Service, Enugu state Command has assured support for the administration of Enugu state Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah , promising to strengthen security by upholding the existing peace and promoting investments in the state.

Newly posted Comptroller of Immigration Service, Enugu state Command Mrs Nkechi Enete gave the assurance on Tuesday, March 4, when she led other senior officers of the NIS on a courtesy visit to Governor Mbah in Government House, Enugu.

Enete, who hails from Enugu state said the NIS will continue to “operate within its extant laws by checking, controlling and monitoring the presence of non-Nigerians and their activities in the state in order to ensure that Non- Nigerians who reside in the state are legal resident workers or visitors and operating within the laws of Nigeria”.

She explained that NIS is one of the relevant security agencies charged with the responsibilities of ensuring the security of socio-economic and stability of Nigeria and that of its component states as well as its citizens.

The Comptroller commended Governor Mbah’s developmental strides saying that by the speed of the good work Governor Mbah was doing in the state, Enugu state shall be a hub for visitors , those who will like to reside or work in the state

Responding, Governor Mbah thanked the NIS for it’s partnership. He said the profile of Enugu was rising and the state government had a humongous vision to grow the economy of the state from $4.4 billion to $ 30 billion and a lot of the growth would be public private partnership

He added that they pride Enugu state as a state with ease of doing business. “We have Enugu state Investment Authority and a desk for all government regulatory investment ( One-stop- shop)”. He noted that ‘the role of the Nigeria Immigration Service in growing the economy of the state cannot be over emphasized.

Governor Mbah promised to assist the NIS in tackling some of it’s challenges enumerated by the Comptroller in order to ensure smooth it’s operations in the state.
