NUJ Enugu warns against interference in it’s elections

Aggrieved members  of the Nigeria Union of Journalists ( NUJ) Enugu state council ,under the auspices of  “Elders and Stakeholders of  Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Enugu State”  have sued for free, fair and peaceful elections, warning against interferences in the elections.

The members also condemned the deployment of a Chairmanship candidate and the current state Chairman of NUJ, Enugu state council, , Sam Udekwe to Abuja .

In a press statement made available to newsmen on Monday in Enugu , the elders and stakeholders , said they were  disturbed that an election that should be contested among brothers, friends, and professional colleagues is turning into a mini-war, with some aspirants resorting to dirty politics instead of focusing on issues affecting union members.

The Press Statement read in parts: 

“This is unacceptable to the stakeholders in Enugu State NUJ, as it threatens the very foundation of our union and profession.”

“As critical elders and stakeholders, we maintain our position that there is neither division nor faction in Enugu State NUJ.  

The group said all efforts were being made to hold free and fair elections on Friday, March 7.

Comrade Ngozi Agbo.and Comrade Mich Ubani condemned campaign of calumny and urged bonafide members to come out enmasse on Friday to vote for candidates of their choice.
