Commissioner of police, Enugu state Police Command, Anayo Uzuegbu has ordered massive deployment of operatives to sustain the ongoing operations to hunt-down and bring the criminal elements who attacked policemen on duty along Presidential road,Enugu to book.
The order followed attack on police operatives, serving in Ogui, on May 10, 2024, around 9.30 p.m., while they were conducting stop and search along Presidential road, Enugu.
Police public relations officer of the Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe in a statement made available to Newsmen on Saturday, said, the police operatives were attacked by armed hoodlums who operated in three SUV6l jeeps.
“The Operatives returned fire, forcing the hoodlums to escape with varying degrees of gunshot wounds and abandoning a recovered Lexus RX 300 jeep with Reg. No. KTU 991 FD.”

He said two of the operatives sustained gunshot injuries in the ensuing gun duel and were taken to the hospital for medical treatment.
Ndukwe added that the Commissioner of Police, Kanayo Uzuegbu, has ordered the massive deployment of the Command’s operational, tactical, and intelligence resources to sustain the ongoing operations to hunt-down and bring the criminal elements to book.
“The CP, therefore, solicits citizen support through the provision of credible information and intelligence, urging the public and owners of medical facilities in particular, to quickly report individuals sighted with gunshot wounds to the nearest Police Station.
