Catholic Mother’s Day:Women’s love and care hold families together -Peter Obi

Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections Peter Obi has extolled the virtues of women, describing them as home builders

Obi ,who was a former Governor of Anambra state took to his social media handle in celebration of the 2024 Catholic Mother’s Day . He wrote ,” women should always be honoured, women’s tender love and care hold families together’.

He wrote:”Again Today, I join Nigerian Catholics in celebrating Mother’s Day. We cannot get tired of saluting and honouring the mothers whose tender love and care hold families together.”

On his part, a Catholic Priest, Very Rev. Fr. Christopher Okechukwu described noting that mothers’ ‘ prayers and blessings do follow them He urged mothers to always be prayerful , emulate the virtues Virgin Mary, mother of Christ and bring up their children in Godly way for a better society

Mother’s Day or Mothering Sunday started in the middle ages. It was a day when people returned to their “mother church” or the church where they were baptised. G time, Mothering Sunday evolved into a day to honour mothers and maternal figures, with children presenting flowers, cakes, or other tokens of appreciation to their mothers.
