Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ ) Enugu State Council , Comrade Sam Udekwe has commended Enugu State Government led by His Excellency, Dr Peter Mbah, for the good governance in the state, calling on the Government and private sectors to partner the press in discharging it’s duties .
Comrade Udekwe in the New year message signed by the Union’s Secretary Dame Ifeoma Amuta, on behalf of the Council, expressed appreciation for the input and efforts of Journalists in the development of the society in the past years despite all challenges which confronted them in one way or the other.
He expressed the hope that the new year would be a starting point of good things to come in terms of welfare of Journalists and good health.
Comrade Udekwe urged the government and other agencies to partner the press in discharging its onerous tasks of being voice of the voiceless and watchdog of the society.
While commending the state government for the line of good governance so far toed, the chairman hoped for a better working condition and more respect for journalists as they discharge their duties.
He called for professionalism, training and retraining of members as well as security of Journalists and the masses in general.
