In Enugu, 250 elders benefit from Senator Remi Tinubu’s renewed hope initiative support scheme

Wife of Nigeria’s President, Senator Oluremi, Thursday, December 21,2023  launched her pet project,  “Renewed Hope Initiative Support Scheme across the country, a scheme meant  to assist the elderly live a better life.

Addressing the gathering of the  elders at the event held at the Michael Okpara Square, Enugu, Senator Tinubu, who was represented by the wife of Enugu state Governor, Mrs Mbah, said the scheme  is an economic programme aimed at supporting  vulnerable elderly citizens from age 65 and above in all the 36 states of the Federation and the Federal capital territory, to live a better life.

She explained that the scheme was to alleviate the burdens of the elderly at this festive season.

According to her , 250 beneficiaries were  drawn from each state and the FCT, making it a total of 9,250 beneficiaries in the maiden event.t

She said that 250 benefiiciaries for the maiden edition were also drawn from , veteran from the defence and police officers wives association.

The wife of the President also added that the beneficiaries were going  to  receive a sum of 100 thousand Naira each.” This is to cushion the effect of the economic situation and alleviate the bounding of our esteemed elders.

She disclosed that the Governing board of the scheme approved the disbursement of Nine hundred and fifty million Naira and that each state will receive a sum of 25 million naira.

Senator Tinubu said she is committed to seeing that each state receives the gesture without discrimination.

She advised the recipients , the elderly to nurture their health and live life to the fulkest and be bonded with their families

: Earlier, Commissioner for Poverty Eradication, Malachy Agbo, thanked the wife of the president, Senator Oluremi Tinubu for initiating the programme. He said the program aligns with the Enugu State Government’s Social protection policy  aimed at improving the welfare of the people. He told the beneficiaries to invest the money into a business, saying that the money could start off a poultry business, it could be used to rare goats”, Tinubu said .

 He appealed to the wife of  Enugu state Governor, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah to key into Senator Tinubu’s scheme  and make it a continuous event ,so that others will benefit.
