Enugu State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah has assured that his administration will partner the federal government in the development’ of the transport sector, especially in the area of infrastructure.
He gave the assurance ,Wednesday when he received in audience, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation(NRC), Freedom Okhiria in his office at the government house Enugu.
Governor Mbah said his administration is committed to disrupting the old system of governance by finding better ways of doing things in order to deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
He thanked the Managing Director, for the visit, expressing gladness that the NRC acknowledged that what the state government was doing was for the interest of the people..” We are trying to bring something that will be a win win”, Governor Mbah said .
He added that the Managing Director’s visit has begun a journey for the state government’s collaborative effort with the federal government in developing the transport sector for the good of the people.
Earlier, the Managing Director, Nigerian Railway Corporation,Freeborn Okhiria said they were on the visit to discuss with the state Government on carrying the Nigerian Railway along in his commitment to making Enugu state a beautiful place for investors and tourist..
He noted that the NRC has been partners in progress and expressed the hope of making the dream a reality.
Okhiria commended the governor for the relative security currently enjoyed in the state and condemned act of vandalization of public utilities.
He announced that railway had been reconstructed from PortHarcourt to Aba and soon, railway operations will commence and the reconstruction of the railway from Aba to Enugu will commence.
