Anambra-born Enugu student makes exceptional score in JAMB mathematics

Master Lotanna Azuokeke, a student of Bishop Otubelu Juniorate, Trans Ekulu, Enugu, has made exceptional score in mathematics in the just-released JAMB 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

Azuokeke, 15, scored 99 in mathematics in the 2023 UTME as well as did exceptional well in other three subjects he sat for in the examination.

This is contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Enugu by Dr Chiwuike Uba, Media Adviser to Bishop, Diocese of Nike (Anglican Communion), the founder and owner of the school.

Uba said that Azụokeke, from Ọba in Idemmili South LGA, Anambra State, also scored 337 in his overall score in the just-concluded UTME conducted by JAMB.

According to him, apart from scoring 99 in mathematics, Azuokeke scored 88 in Chemistry; 86 in Physics and 64 in English Language.

He said, “Azụokeke broke record set by Chidera Obi who scored 329 to emerge overall best five years ago.

“Report shows that Azuokeke had applied to study Electrical Electronics Engineering at University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).”

Uba said that the school, which was founded due to deep concern of the Church for dwindling standard of Education, was established on Oct. 6, 2008, with 24 students, but today, have 411 students (from both within and outside the country) who are boarders.

He said, “Academically, the students are doing very well, both in internal and external examinations and the school recorded 100 per cent in the last Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), three students came out with 11As each.

“We are proud of the success we have attained so far. Our JAMB results were simply wonderful, our WAEC and NECO were not bad also.

“Most of our students have gotten admission in various reputable universities both in Nigeria and outside Nigeria. Also our students went for NNPC competition, Mathematics Association of Nigeria (MAN), Chemical Association of Nigeria, Winning ways consult competition and we came out victorious in all.”

He said that being a mission-oriented school, discipline and moral aspect of development is very important to us, adding that the school organises fellowships, moral instructions, Guidance & Counseling, Retreats and Bible Study classes.
