Enugu commissioner of Police assures support for mopping of arms in south east

Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Police  Command, Ahmed Ammani,  has assured the leadership of the south east zonal office of the National Centre for Control of Small Arms and Light Weapons, of the Command’s  support towards achieving its goal of controlling and mopping up small arms and light weapons in illegal hands in the State. 

He gave the assurance on Thursday, 27th April 2023, when the South East Zonal Coordinator of the Centre, Major- General Okechukwu Ugo (retired), led Principal Officers of the Centre’s Zonal Office on  a courtesy and familiarization visit in his Office at the State Headquarters, G.R.A., Enugu.

Police public relations officer of the Command, DSP Dan Ndukwe in a statement on Thursday in Enugu , said that “the Zonal Coordinator informed the Commissioner that the essence of the visit was to familiarize and seek partnership with the Command, towards the actualization of the Centre’s goals and general national security in the State”.

Other officers present  in the courtesy  visit were DCP Olasoji Akinbayo, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in-charge of Operations, ACP Hope, the Assistant Commissioner Department of Finance and Administration, the Second-in-Command, No. 3 PMF Enugu, the Officer in-charge of the State Investigation Bureau (SIB), Heads of Tactical Units and Staff Officers of the Command.
