Fintiri wins Adamawa governorship election with 430,861 votes

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Fintiri of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has emerged the winner of the 2023 Adamawa state Governorship elections, winning his second term bid.

Announcing the results of the just concluded supplementary governorship elections in the state, the Collation Officer of the State, Mele Lamido declared Fintiri winner after he defeated Senator Aishatu Dahiru popularly known as Binani, of the All Progressives Congress, APC. Fintiri, polled 430,861 votes while his closest rival, APC’s Aishatu polled 396,788 votes.

Recall that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had slated April 15th for the supplementary elections to complete the exercise after the process couldn’t be completed on March 18th.

Aishatu was earlier, illegally announced winner by the Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Yenusa-Ari, when the process was still on. INEC frowned at the action of the REC, declared it null and void and suspended the REC.
