Angry Nigerians,Wednesday, stormed the headquarters of the Central Bank of Nigeria, (CBN) and the office of the Attorney General of the Federation, (AGF), over the Supreme Court ruling on the deadline for use of old naira notes.
A seven-member apex court panel led by John Okoro on Wednesday, temporarily restrained the Federal Government and Central Bank of Nigeria from phasing out the use of the old naira notes after February 10 deadline.
The judgement came following an ex parte suit filed by governors of Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara states.
Briefing Journalists in Abuja on Wednesday, one of the leaders of the protesters, Obed Agu, said President Muhammadu Buhari should issue an executive order maintaining the date mentioned as the deadline for the use of old naira notes.
Scarcity of both the old and new naira has caused untold hardship on Nigerians nationwide. President Buhari appealed to Nigerians to give him Seven days to fix the problem with no hope at sight.
