Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate for Enugu state in the 2023 general.election, Chijoke Edeoga, said that he would run an all inclusive government, with his commissioners and other aides drawn from the South east states.
“My commissioners and Special Advisers will not be from Enugu state alone but is going to spread across the entire South East states,” he said, noting that Enugu as the capital of the former eastern Nigeria is a home for all”, he said.
Edeoga disclosed this at a Business community townhall meeting organised by the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA), on Tuesday.
He promised to reduce the cost of governance if voted into power, saying that he did not see the need for a long convoy. The governorship candidate said that if voted into power, he will not have more than four vehicles in his convoy to save cost for other needs.
“I’ll reduce the cost of governance. The money used in procuring many vehicles should be used for other things. A governor should not have more than four vehicles in his convoy,” he said.
On health, Edeoga said Enugu has health centres in every ward saying that what is needed is the employment of more health personnel and to ensure that they stayed at their duty posts.Edeoga who said that throughout his career as a politician, he had not been accused of fraud, said that he would expand his tentacles while giving appointments into his cabinet even in the area of Special Advisers.
On industrialisation, Edeoga promised to revive ailing industries in the state such as the Presidential Hotel . He promised to tackle issue of waste disposal, and turn waste to wealth.
He promised to dualise the Nike-Ugwuogo-Opi expressway which has of recent turned into kidnappers den.
