Enugu PDP guber candidate meets business community, promises robust economy, ease of doing business

Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), in Enugu state, Peter Mbah, on Tuesday , assured the people of the state of a business- friendly environment and oil and gas exploration in the state, if voted into power in 2023 general elections.

Mbah gave the assurance during the Enugu Business Community Town Hall meeting held at the Enugu Chamber of Commerce, Industry Mines and Agriculture (ECCIMA) hall, Enugu.

Mbah, who summarised his manifesto at the event organised by ECCIMA and ECOBPA, said that Enugu State is rich in mineral resources, which had not been harnessed. He said that Enugu State is a coastal area with so many business opportunities that would grow the economy of the state .

He said that Enugu State ought to be an Oil producing state but it’s not for now.
“OPL 916 is already producing with 13 wells. OPL 914, OPL 915, and OPL 917(gas) have their root in Enugu.”
The only state benefiting from it is Anambra state.

The governorship candidate promised that in one year , he would work with investors to commence oil exploration in the state. He said he will also grow the economy of the state through Agricultural development, commerce,industries, infrastructure and technology.

Mbah said that he is a businessman who understands business challenges. He noted that the challenges of rising insecurity, inflation threaten the economy , therefore, they will work together to overcome the challenges,to ensure the economic growth of Enugu state.

Sharing their dream for Enugu state, Mbah expressed optimism that Enugu will be better. “We committed in that document to make Enugu state the preferred destination for business, tourism, and industry. We envisioned an Enugu state that the economy will grow from the current state of $4.4 billion to $30 billion .To achieve a zero poverty head count index . “For us to achieve that, we will do things differently. We will use technology.”Technologies are bundles of possibilities,” he said.

The governordhip candidate, promised to apply the indicators of ease of doing business, to provide infrastructures and attract businesses to Enugu to grow the economy.
He said that there will be a skill program for the youths to realise their potentials, establishment of agro-allied industries, agro processing industries in the three senatorial zones of the state to settle the problem of lack of storage and processing. “We need to feed ndi Enugu. To be the food basket”. We want to add value in that sector. A lot of our land tenures are dormant. “

Mbah said that they will laise with the state’s House of assembly to harmonise the land tenure system to allow government to take control of the lands, to get investors and even lease the lands to them..

He also promised to review the education curriculum , revamp among others.

President of ECCIMA, Jasper Nduagwuike in a remark, appealed to the governorship candidate to assist the chamber in building a beffiting complex at their permanent site, which the federal government did not do.
