Members of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Friday, paid their last respect to their former colleague and former chairman of the Enugu state Council of the Union, Comrade Ossy Rockefeller Ogboso , who past on recently.
Paying his tribute during a brief stop over of the remains of Ogboso at the RT. Hon.. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi NUJ press center, ,Enugu , the former chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ebonyi State Council, and Managing Director, Ebonyi State Broadcasting Corporation, Comrade Tony Nwizi, described Ogboso as ” a jolly good fellow”.
” Rockefeller was a jolly good fellow. I know him very well.I worked with him closely. He was a jolly good fellow. He lived a good life.,” he said.

Comrade Nwizi, expressed how bad he felt when he received the news about Ossy Ogboso’s death, saying , it pained him very well because he did not know Ossy Ogboso was sick.
He said Ogboso was a good man and he saw goodness in him . Nwizi urged people to live a good life, emphasizing that it’s not the number of years one lived that matters, rather it’s how well one lived. He prayed God to console Ogboso’s family, and NUJ ,Enugu state council.
In his remarks, the former chairman of NUJ ,Enugu state council, Comrade Rex Arum said Ossy Ogboso lived a good life. He said death is the way of all mortals, urging people to prepare their ways and live a good life. He noted that no matter the number of materials things one gathered in life ,he will go back to his creator empty, because he came to the world empty- handed.
Comrade Arum appealed to members of the union to always remember the families of their fallen colleagues and assist them in the way they could.

Speaking, the chairman of the 2025 NUJ Enugu state council electoral committee, Comrade, Sebastian Okafor described Ogboso as a good person, someone who impacted positively on people. “I had a very wonderful relationship with him. He was active. Onwa at 59 lived a good life . He impacted positively on people,” he said.
Comrade Okafor reminded sympathisers that all mortals will pass on . He prayed God to grant Ossy Ogboso’s soul eternal rest.
The representative of the family,and elder brother of the deceased,Chief Ogboso thanked the NUJ members for their support to the family. He appealed to members of the union not to forget the children Ogboso left behind.
Earlier, the chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists Enugu State Council, Comrade Obinna Ogbuka ,speaking shortly after he received Ogboso’s corpse, described him as a nice person.

He said, “This is a man , a former chairman of this council for two tenures . The name Onwa was given to him because of his track records. Some of us learnt a lot from him”.
Earlier, former Chairperson of Nigerian Association of Women Journalists,NAWOJ, Enugu state Chapter, Comrade Mariam Menkiiti and the Assistant secretary of the NUJ, Enugu state council, Comrade Fred Nnaji , respectively prayed for the repose of the former chairman and God’s protection on his family.
The body of the late former chairman was later taken to his home town, Umuabi in Udi Local Government Area,Enugu state for funeral service and burial.May his soul rest in peace.
