Minister of Information commends development-based synergy between Enugu,FG

Honorable Minister of Information, Mohammed Idris Thursday, 14th August, applauded President Bola Tinubu led administration for the federal government projects executed in the south East zone , especially in Enugu State .

He gave the commendation during a media interaction at the International Conference Centre, Enugu. Idris acknowledged the development- based synergy between the Federal government of the Bola-Ahmed Tinubu led administration and the Enugu state government of Peter Mbah led administration, which he described as a necessity for “meaningful development.”

“President Ahmed Tinubu is distributing resources, making progress that will empower people, irrespective of the political party.

“Wherever you are, whichever political party you belong to, the government of President Bola-Ahmed Tinubu will ensure that the impact of democracy hits you, and if the impact of democracy touches you, it will also touch everybody” he says.

The minister spoke the projects executed by the Federal government in Enugu state and Southeast, listing some of these projects and policies which includes, the Renewed Agenda, 350 meter road connecting Enugu State, Ebonyi, Akwa Ibom and Cross-River State , procurement of world class medical machines for Cancer treatment and commissioning of world class cancer treatment session in the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), rehabilitation of Healthcare Centers in Southeast, removal of fuel subsidy to free up resources for capital projects, as well as other positive reforms among others.

He described the development he saw in Enugu during his project inspection tour in Enugu state as a “visible development,” of good governance

He reiterated the readiness of the federal government to supporting the state and Southeast at large.

In his speech, Enugu State Commissioner for Information, Dr. Malachy Agbo who welcomed the Honorable Minister of Information and his entourage, lauded the efforts of the ministry in organizing an “open dialogue” in the state.

He said such engagement will foster positive exchange of ideas, which when shared, “will change decisions that will directly touch the lives of Nigerians, especially in the southeast and Enugu state in particular.”

The Commissioner while speaking on the effort of President Bola-Ahmed Tinubu in supporting Enugu state and Southeast, also reaffirms the state’s readiness to supporting its efforts towards building a better nation.

“Please permit me to present our profound gratitude to Mr. President for choosing our state for this engagement.

“We assure him of our full cooperation, and our readiness to partnering the federal government in building a responsible and better Nigeria,” he said..

He called for a continued cooperation and support of the federal government towards Enugu State, and Southeast in general.

Other Stakeholders who spoke appreciated the federal government for it’s developmental programmes and called for more opportunities for both the state and the youths of the nation, which they respectively described as a relative cure to several crimes, and insecurity in particular.

The event was well attended by the Commissioners, Legislators, Director Generals (DGs)of various media houses and parastatals, Journalists, political class, Civil Society Organisations women organizations, Heads of many professional bodies, and among others.
