Nigeria’s former President, Muhammad Buhari has passed on in a London clinic.
This was disclosed by his spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Sunday in a post on X.
He wrote ,””The family of the former president has announced the death of the former president of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari in a clinic in London.
“May Allah accept him in Aljannatul Firdaus, Amin”.
Buhari reportedly died on Sunday afternoon after a prolonged sickness.
He was aged 82 years.
Meanwhile Nigeria’s President, Bola Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to proceed to the United Kingdom to accompany President Muhammadu Buhari’s body back to Nigeria.
President Tinubu has also ordered flags at half-mast as a mark of respect for the departed leader.”
“Former President Buhari was twice elected Nigeria’s President in 2015 and 2023.
“He also served as military head of state between January 1984 and August 1985.
