Enugu Council of Traditional Rulers laud Gov  Mbah ‘s  governance, support proposed  bill  against criminality

Enugu state Council of Traditional Rulers has commended the massive development  in the state  throwing support  on  Gov  Peter Mbah’s Leadership and his recent

 Executive bill seeking  to outlaw money ritual practices criminal bulletproof charm , illegal use or occupation of forests and properties for criminal activities.

The council acknowledged the critical role of the Traditional Institution and by extension, the Traditional Rulers in providing security as well as community and grassroots mobilization towards driving the policies and programs of the state government for the overall development of the state.

This was contained in a  7- point communique issued at the end of  the meeting of the Enugu state Council of Traditional Rulers  held at the House of Chiefs Chambers, Enugu state House of Assembly, Enugu .

Presenting the communique, Chairman of the  Enugu State Council of Traditional Rulers. and   traditional ruler of Edem-Ani Ogwugwu Ancient Kingdom, HRM, Igwe Samuel Ikechukwu Asadu (Ogadagidi) said the council resolved to mobilize the grassroots across the state in support of the state government’s ongoing programs and policies for the overall wellbeing of the good people of the  state.

Igwe Asadu, who was the  immediate past chairman, South East Council of Traditional Ruler, Member of Board of Trustees, Africa Council of Traditional Leaders(COTL) said the traditional rulers expressed  serious concern on  the prevailing quest for quick riches among the youths and resultant indulgence in criminality.

At the meeting , the Commissioner for lands, Chima Okorie addressed the Royal fathers on encroachment of government lands mapped out for Smart schools , urging them to talk to their people to desist from such acts

The meeting which was  attended by 34  members of the council after some exhaustive deliberations on the matters of state interests especially in the areas of ongoing massive infrastructural transformation across the state and the present security challenges being experienced across the federation, Enugu State inclusive, the council released the following communique:

“The council commends His Excellency, the executive governor of the state, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for the ongoing infrastructural transformation across the state which cuts across; road, education, health, agriculture, water resources sectors and so on, as well as the state government’s security measures being put in place in order to ensure adequate security in the state, including but not limited to the provision of patrol vans to the security agencies and establishment of security command center at the government house.

 The council resolved to mobilize the grassroots across the state in support of the state government’s ongoing programs and policies for the overall wellbeing of the good people of the state.

On the Farm Estate Agricultural Initiative of the state government, the council pledged total support and resolved to synergize with the council

bosses and other critical stakeholders with a view to ensuring that adequate land is provided for the program.

On the perceived encroachment on the lands allocated to the state for academic establishments, the council pledged to work with relevant stakeholders in the communities with a view to putting a halt to the menace.

The council noted with serious concern the prevailing quest for quick riches among the youths and resultant indulgence in criminalities. To this end, the council pledged full support to the state government’s proposed bill for the “maintenance of Internal Security, Vigilance and Order” which seeks to outlaw money ritual practices known as Okeite, criminal bulletproof charm known as Odeshi, illegal use or occupation of forests and properties for criminal activities.

 The council equally resolved to work with the LG chairmen and other stakeholders with a view to strengthening peculiar local initiatives in combating all forms of security challenges across the state.
