National Youths Service Corps (NYSC), on Friday , swore in 1,071 corps members of the 2025 Batch A Stream 1 set, deployed to Enugu for the one-year mandatory national youth service scheme, with Governor Mbah assuring them security .
He gave the assurance in his speech during the swearing in ceremony held at the NYSC permanent Orientation ground,Awgu.
Represented by the Enugu State Commissioner for Environment, Prof. Sam Ugwu, Governor Mbah urged the corps members to contribute positively to nation building and to their host communities.
The Governor said his administration was looking at renovating the orientation camp to create a conducive training environment.
He congratulated the Corps members for successfully completing their academic pursuit.

Governor Mbah enjoined Corps members to abide by the rules and the rudiments of scheme and to participate in leadership scheme , skill acquisition, entrepreneurship development program and community’s language, noting that the initiatives will help them with discipline, leadership skills, and entrepreneurial future success.
He also urged the corps members to contribute significantly to the development of the society through initiatives like anti-corruption campaign and environmental conservation. The Governor asked them to conduct themselves in a good manner like their predecessors, bringing positive change to their host communities.
In his speech while administering the oath of allegiance on the Corps members, the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Raymond Ozoemena, urged the corps members to make proper use of the opportunity the country had given them.

His words, ” make proper use of the opportunity this country has afforded you to prosper.
“It is Nigeria that your loyalty belong to, without Nigeria you would not have been where you are today.
“Having come from different places, culture, background, different ethnic groups, you are all here as citizens of one united nation Nigeria,” he said.
In his address, the Chairman of Awgu Local Government Area, Hon. Uchenna Okolo said Awgu Local Government Council has a cordial relationship with NYSC. “We intervened in some infrastructural projects in the Orientation camp towards making it a conducive environment for the Corps s posted to Enugu State.

“Enugu state as you should know is one of the safest states in Nigeria. – Governor Dr Peter Ndubuisi Mbah has invested a lot in the of lives and properties in the State. There are CCTV cameras ity personnel in strategic locations of the State.
” On our part, we committed to ensuring that people in the local government are secure. Within the time you will be here for your orientation e assured that you are safe and secure. I have set machinery in motion for collaborative security measure between the security agencies the local government and the security Camp. between the security personnel in the orientation camp.

Earlier, the State Coordinator, Mrs Oluwakemi Awolola said 1,071 Corps members were deployed to Enugu state, adding that the corps members comprised 471 males and 600 females.
She urged the corps members to participate in all the activities in the orientation camp as indiscipline would not be tolerated.
Awolola commended them for answering the clarion call to national service, adding that the orientation was to give them clear understanding of the NYSC scheme and to acquaint them with empowerment, language and culture of their host communities.
“Your assessment of your service year start right from the camp, you must obey the rules and respect camp officials as indiscipline would not be tolerated.
She commended Gov. Mbah for approving the construction of solar borehole project in the orientation camp aimed at improving water supply for the corps members and the staff.
The State Coordinator also thanked the chairman of Awgu Local Government Area Uchenna Okolo, for repairing the perimeter fencing and the camp generator as well as clearing the the environment for the corps members.
Highlights of the event were parade and tug of war displayed by s elected Corps members.
