CIA 2024 summit: Mba  urges administrators to build visions, leadership

Administrators in the country  have  been  charged to be  proactive,, embrace change, move away from being  implementers  to building visions and leadership.

Former Director of Nigerian Broadcasting Commission,NBC, and Chief Executive Officer, Afia Television/ Radio, Prince Emeka Mba, gave the charge , Saturday, in a Keynote address he presented o at the  ,2024 Summit of the Society of the  Chartered institute of Administration Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi states district, held in Enugu .

The Veteran Journalist who spoke on the  “roles  of administrators”, said an administrator should know when policy changes and understand the larger picture of building  the people. He noted that for administrators to build leadership, they should build visions, understand the significances,

He said, “How you do things matters, when you do  things matters, understand why you should do it.. Identify the gap, and if you fill that gap, you will  see the consequences.”

On how to build an effective  institution, Mba said administrators must attach their personal interest  to a public  interest. ” There must be a shared  visions, shared by everybody and the vision is  well communicated”;he said

He went further to say that an administrator should see himself as  a leader., A  Leader should have  courage,, empathy and the organisation  must  see him as somebody that has confidence. In our day to day actions, there is need to  understand  that  there are consequences of our actions 

” To be outstanding , you must be that officer who knows how to sell the vision  for tomorrow,. We should  have an appreciation for orderliness, listen to the people,  have ideas, talk more with colleagues  , have a long term plan , inspire  and build a future of The organization, , share the vision  and get  feedback 

Earlier, the District Chairman, Adm.Dr in Georgina Chukwu Onuora, in her address,  said the summit was “to deliberate on key issues , exchange knowledge and chart a path forward for stronger institutions, sustainable development, and effective governance in pour respective domains

She added that  the event was a testament to their shared commitment  to fostering excellence in administration and governance within the region and across Nigeria .

According to her, the Chartered institute of administration (CIA) is a Nigerian professional body  established in 1987 Chartered by federal Government ACT. No. 103 of 1992( now ACT) of National Assembly Cap C7 Laws of federation of Nigeria , 2004) 

The ACT empowers the institute to regulate the training in and practice of Administration within  a professional framework  .

There were discussions  on ” building strong institutions for effective leadership and good governance, the transformation agenda in Nigeria, Sustainable Development and Good Governance, business sustainability in a depressed economy among others 

Highlight of the occasion was award presentations to the Commissioner of Police, Enugu state Police Command, Kanayo Uzuegbu, the Chief Executive Officer of Afia radio/ television, Prince Emeka Mba and the Chairman of  the Chartered institute of administrators,  Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi states district, in Enugu , Dr. Ebele Georgina Onuora.
