Mrs Mbah’s Foundation offers scholarships to youth as Gov Mbah calls for goal setting

Wife of Enugu State Governor, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, through her pet project, CUSTOS Care Foundation has announced scholarships to Enugu youth who participated in the ongoing  Enugu youth Camp, tagged , “E-Youth Aspire Boot camp”,  organized for 100 youth between 15-20 years.

State Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah announced that on Wednesday, when he received the youth ,led by the  First Lady and  Director of Custos Care Foundation,   Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah , who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

The Governor commended CUSTOS Care Foundation for awarding the scholarships. He said the awards will go to those who performed optimally in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

The  State Chief Executive gave a brief history of Enugu, describing it as a consequential city in Nigeria and one of the tripods( northern, southern and eastern regions) on which Nigeria started,  being the headquarters of the then  Eastern region. “Enugu  is a glowing city “, he said.

The Governor encouraged the youth to be proud of their heritage(Enugu) saying that they should set a goal for themselves and work towards achieving the goal.  Governor Mbah said, “The circumstance of birth does not determine your future. . it is your vision that will show you where you want to end up.     

“You must define clearly where you want to be in future. You need to understand where you had to go to. ..If you are going to go from one point to the other you have to make some courageous moves.  

 You must define clearly where you want to get to in life. You need to understand where you are going to. What helps you to crafting the strategy to help you get to where you want to be in future” Governor Mbah said. 

He spoke on his administration’s  slogan ,”tomorrow is here”, explaining to the youth that they were the tomorrow that is here.   

He urged the youth to think of the Enugu state they will be proud of,  think of where they want Enugu state to be in future. The Governor disclosed that his administration was already working out programs  to equip the youth so they could catch up with their counterparts abroad.

In an interview the Managing Director,CUSTOS Care Foundation, Mrs Egodi Ijeamaka-Igwe said , “the  program, E-Youth Aspire Boot camp was a youth- based  program designed to empower, educate and inspire the Enugu youth of Enugu state. The youth are from 15-20 years and their selection cut across the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu.

On the process for selection, the Managing  Director said  the selection process was very transparent and fair.

“We did not contact anybody one on one. We put up communication and announcement through out all the platforms that we have, even community platforms and asked people to complete an online form and they were attested,  asked to write on why they should be selected and that selection process was carried out with transparency and at the end of the day, it’s the youth that are here. We have been at Nike Lake hotel ,resort since 26 of this month, where we brought in very experienced  people from various areas to come and teach them in various areas, she said.

Highlight of the event was a visit to the digital museum where Governor Mbah showed the youth some historical pictures of former and present leaders of the Eastern region and Enugu state, as well as the mineral resources found in the state.
