Police investigate killing of 21-year-old female student in Kwara

Kwara State Police Command has commenced investigations into the killing of  of Awesu Mojisola ,a  21-year-old student of Kwara State College of Health Technology, Offa, by suspected ritualists.

The deceased was declared missing since August 9,2024 and the  corpse found in the Aleniboro area of Ilorin by one Olorunoje on August 12, at about 07:30 am.

It was gathered that the deceased had received a phone call from one Miss Timileyin on August 9, 2024, about an event organized by students of Summit University, Offa and Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin.

 Timileyin was said to had introduced the late Mojisola to one Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University, who allegedly invited her to the night party under the pretence of having her act as his girlfriend for a fee of N15,000.00.

It was also gathered that the late Mojisola had informed her roommate, one Miss Blessing O, that she felt uncomfortable in the hotel where she was lodged by Adebayo Happiness and noted that there was no party at the said location and shortly after this communication her phone was switched off and all subsequent efforts by Miss Blessing to reach her were unsuccessful.

Police Public Relations Officer, Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, said that suspects have been arrested in connection with the killing of Mojisola, and that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further discreet investigation.

The statement reads in parts: “The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the public about an ongoing investigation into a case of culpable homicide reported on August 12, 2024, at about 0730 hours by Olorunoje of Aleniboro area Ilorin, Kwara State

According to . Olorunoje, on August 11, 2024, at about 20:00 hours, he was returning home from the mosque when a group of labourers approached him and informed him of a disturbing discovery. They had found the body of an unidentified female, approximately 25 years old, dumped on a refuse dump near the Aleniboro area of Ilorin, Kwara State.

Following this report, a team of detectives was immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon arrival, the scene was carefully examined and photographed. During the initial investigation, traces of blood were found near the left ear of the deceased. The body was subsequently taken to the General Hospital in Ilorin, where a medical examination confirmed that she was dead. The body has since been deposited in the hospital morgue. The deceased was later identified as Miss Awesu Mojisola.

In a related development, on August 13, 2024, at about 16:30 hours, a report of a missing person was filed by Miss Blessing O, a resident of Gbomi’s area, Offa, Kwara State. Miss Blessing reported that her roommate, Miss Awesu Mojisola, a 21-year-old student of Kwara State College of Health Technology, had been missing since August 9, 2024.

According to the report, Miss Mojisola received a phone call on August 9 from Miss Timileyin, who informed her about an event organized by students of Summit University and Al-Hikmah University in Ilorin. Miss Timileyin introduced Mojisola to one Mr Adebayo Happiness, a student of Summit University, who allegedly invited her to the night party under the pretence of having her act as his girlfriend for a fee of N15,000.00.

Meanwhile , the Kwara State Police Command have arrested suspects in connection with the case. Investigation is ongoing, and the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further discreet investigation.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Victor Olaiya,said all necessary steps were being taken to uncover the truth behind the incident and bring culprits to book.
