Enugu State Governor, Dr.Peter Mbah’ has re-assured the commitment of his administration to revamping the health sector in the state.
He gave the reassurance in his speech at
the Induction ceremony of the 13Th “Batch B” Medical Graduands of ESUT College of Medicine held on Friday in Enugu.
He spoke through his special Adviser on Health, Dr. Yomi Jaye.

The SPA noted that the registrar ( Dr. Fatima Kyari’s)presence at the Induction was a good omen for Enugu state.
“We are going ahead with all forms of accreditation to make sure that all our schools improve the capacity and quality of our medical training.
“So, these are the things His Excellency is putting in place and it is attracting a lot of Goodwill. What I need to tell you is that this state is in the best hands,your health is in the best hands at the moment.

Delivering an induction lecture on the topic,” Facing the future”, Dr. Jaye advised the newly inducted Doctors on having abundance of mindset, and protecting their mindset. He explained that the essence was for them to set goals for themselves and work towards achieving the goals.
His advice, “Travel with your mind in the midst of scarcity, Your mind is the master. When you don’t govern your mind, you run away like a mad dog, don’t do that”
He urged them to champion their minds and think in abundance. “Don’t think scarcity, in the middle of scarcity , there is poverty in the nation but we are thinking sub -national, there won’t be poverty in the land.”

The Special Adviser, explained that for them to achieve greatness, they must champion their minds and think in exponential abundance.
Fielding questions from newsmen, Dr. Jaye disclosed that the state Government had embarked on transformation of the health sector. He said, “We are at the verge of making history. We are at the verge of revamping our health system, not just in town but also at the rural communities. His Excellency is committed to revamping the system of training and he is also revamping the system of retaining our Doctors, Healthcare professionals generally, and it’s in alignment with what the registrar came up with”.
He advised the newly inducted Doctors, ,saying ,”now you made it ,I want to say congratulations. I want to say that you need to plan the future., Create a crystal clear, mental picture of your goal in your mind. Having a clearly written down goals,set you up for greater successes ,”he saîd
Dr Jaye also advocated four H – namely, healthy, hungry, humble and human. He said, “Stay healthy’, take care of yourself before you take care of anybody. Second, stay hungry , work hard to raise the bar. Third, stay humble. Four, stay human. Give to your parents who have supported you, your teachers and to the society.”
Inducting the Graduands, the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Dr. Fatima Kyari, urged them to be responsible and render services to humanity.
“Medical is hierarchical profession. You must respect and bear in mind that you command respect in the community. Medicine is a calling. Becoming a Doctor comes with a lot of responsibilities “, Kyari said. She also urged them to obey the code of conducts and regulations guiding the medical practices.

In his speech, the Vice- Chancellor, Enugu state University of Science and Technology(ESUT) Prof Alloysius Okolie thanked Enugu state Government for it’s support to the University.
He announced that they will hopefully secure accreditation for three additional programmes, Public health, Radiography and human and will start the programmes by September at Agbani. He appealed for more infrastructure.
The Vice -Chancellor lamented that funding has been a challenge to the University. He said increase in electricity tariff has affected the running of the University, disclosing that they pay over N11 million bill on electricity
Prof Okolie therefore called for a review of the whole situation. “
To the Graduands, he said, “go there and represent us well. As you remember God , remember your health, don’t bring embarrassment to the University”.
Earlier in his welcome address, the Provost of College of Medicine, Professor. Uchenna Ekwochi charged the new graduands to be good ambassadors of the University.
The chairman of the occasion, Sir Chinyeaka Ohaa was represented by Dr. Eric Oluedo.
Highlight of the event was presentation of a cash award to the best graduating student , Dr. Anibeze Adaobi Sylvia, who r received a sum of $500,000 from Cecilia Oyebola foundation ,owned by Dr Jaye .
