Governor of Enugu state , Dr. Peter Mbah’, Sunday, commissioned some projects executed by the outgoing chairman of Awgu Local Government area, Hon. Pedro Nwankwo .

The Governor, who commended the consistent and commitment of the chairman towards improving the living standard of the people, urged residents and beneficiaries of the projects to make good use of the infrastructure for the service of the community.
Governor Mbah, who was represented by the Deputy Governor, Barr Ifeanyi Ossai, said the projects executed by the council chairman showed his determination to transit the local government from analog to information and communication technology.
“You have shown consistently your commitment to the development of your council, and in a world that is gradually transiting from analog to ICT, the investment of the council into ICT can only be for the benefit of the pe his administration would continue to provide the needed infrastructure that would trigger development and create employment for the teeming youths.

According to him, the right policies had already been activated to move the economy of the state from $4.4 billion to $30 billion, eradicate poverty, empower citizens and make Enugu attractive to investors.
He noted that the government was deliberate about robust and sound education that would enhance the skills of the young population and make them globally competitive.
Governo Mbah’ reassured that the ongoing Smart schools with the best infrastructure that could be found anywhere in the world is free for students.
Speaking on his stewardship, the council chairman, appreciated Governor Mbah administration for the support the local government enjoyed throughout his tenure, saying his team was able to succeed in the areas of education, infrastructure, health, youth empowerment, security and other critical sectors because of the enabling environment created by the Mbah government.
He said the council was able to asphalt 1.8 kilometer Onoli-Obuovia- road, constructed a modern lodge named after Governor Peter Mbah, completed Governor Peter Mbah ICT/Administrative Block, expanded Olie Awgu market to a modern market, renovated a number of healthcare centres, invested in commercial farming, and ensured the security of the area because of the cooperation of the people of the area.
“I want to appreciate Governor Peter Mbah and the good people of Awgu local government for their support and for standing with us throughout our stay in office. We couldn’t have achieved this much without the governor’s support.
“We are glad that we were able to write our names among The Local Government that gave their people good governance and delivered on promises made,” he said.
