Three children of the same parents, a boy and two girls, were Sunday, suffocated to death inside the car parked at their compound at No 8, Boluke Line, Zango-Kulende quarters in the Ilorin , Kwara State
It was gathered that their mother, Shade Silifat, went to buy noodles for them to prepare for Monday morning school meals when the incident occurred.
Before she returned around 2pm, the children had locked themselves in the parked car and suffocated to death.
It was gathered that their father borrowed the car from his sister, within the same premises of their quarters for quick domestic use.
Their mother, Shade Silifat, had gone out to buy noodles for the children’s school meals on Monday when the tragedy occurred.
Their mother who returned from where she went to buy noodles and discovered their footwear outside the parked car, raised the alarm after forcing the doors of the car open.
She reportedly fainted when she met the three children motionless as a result of suffocation inside the car.
Efforts were made to revive the children as they were rushed to Olutayo Clinic, near their residence for medical attention.
The medical director, Dr. Adeyemo, however, directed that they be taken to the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Ilorin, where they were confirmed dead.
The three siblings were later buried according to Islamic rites
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in Kwara state Victor Olaiya, has ordered a discreet investigation into the death of the three siblings .
Operatives of the police on Monday visited the residence, No 8, Boluke Lane, Zango-Kulende quarters of Ilorin metropolis for on the spot assessment of the development .
However, they could not gain entrance into the building as the gate was under lock and key and nobody was around to welcome them.
The police operatives then proceeded to the family house of the late siblings mother, Shade Silifat, Ile Magaji, Taiwo Isale road, Ilorin, where she is recuperating after she fainted as a result of her children’s tragic death on Sunday.
The police operatives queried the mother for not reporting the matter officially to the police.
It was further gathered that while the family intends to settle the matter internally, the police commissioner has directed the SIB to go ahead with the discreet investigation in the bid to get to the root of the matter.
Meanwhile, the landlord of the residence where the siblings died, has issued quit notice to their father, identified as Abdulkadir Jimoh, who has gone into hiding since the tragic incident occurred on Sunday afternoon.
Abdulkadir, a Barbing salon operator at Oke-Andi, Zango-Kulende area, who reportedly has two wives was said to have borrowed the ill-fated car which killed the three children from her sister for the naming ceremony of a new born.
