Management of Godfrey Okoye University Enugu has reaffirmed the university’s zero tolerance to any form of drug abuse, cultism, stealing , examination malpractice and other negative behaviours by students of the university.
The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Reverend Father Professor Christian Anieke announced this while addressing the 17th orientation of the university organized for new and transferred students of the institution.

Reverend Father Professor Anieke said the management also frowned at mob actions, harassment of students and staff, stressing that students were expected to use legal means to settle issues affecting them.
He warned that any student found to have spread or have in possession, a nude picture would receive due and adequate punishment .
The Vice-Chancellor described Godfrey Okoye University as an institution that knows what it takes to be a university and said that the students should not ask for freedom without control pointing out that control was necessary to enable the students to achieve their life ambitions.
“A freedom that does not bring development is not freedom at all”, the Vice-Chancellor snapped.
Reverend Father Professor Anieke urged the students to invest more in their studies by spending more time reading voraciously and everything to sharpen their behaviour and knowledge.

He explained that the institution’s emphasis on English language is to make the students strong and enable them to perform well wherever they found themselves.
Addressing the students, the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Sister Professor Marysylvia Nwachukwu stressed the need for discipline and responsibility among the students, stressing that these would ensure their success as human person.
According to Sister Professor Nwachukwu, the students should set clear goals for themselves, practice accountability and improve their relationship with other people.
In a remark, the Registrar of the university, Dr. Mrs. Peace Ike made it clear that any student who failed to achieve 75% attendance to lectures would not be allowed to write examinations.
Dr. Mrs. Ike enjoined the students to take their courses seriously as the university had zero tolerance to examination misconduct.
The University Librarian, Associate Professor Mrs. Juliana Iwu-James who also addressed the students, stressed the need for the students to make effective use of the library, pointing out that such would make materials relating to their areas of study easily available to them.
In a comment, the Bursar of the university, Professor Mrs. Modesta Egiyi warned the students and their parents against paying their fees into or through staff accounts.
Professor Egiyi announced that approved fees in the university were published annually in the institution’s website and advised students and parents to contact the Bursary Department for clearance on financial matters.

In an address, the Manager of ICT of the university, Mr. Lucky Azike enjoined the students to ensure that their courses were registered within the period allowed.
Mr. Azike reminded the students that their portals might be blocked after the approved period while those who wish to register at the expiration of the approved period would be expected to pay extra fees.
Addressing the new and transferred students, Monsignor Edward Kanife of the Faculty of education of the university announced the introduction of handwriting course for the students.
Monsignor Kanife said good handwriting makes students’ examination answer scripts attractive and eligible to read and understand.
The university’s Director of Competition, Mrs. Uchanta Chukwu revealed that series of competitions had been mapped out for the students and urged them to participate actively in the competitions.
