Wife of Enugu state Governor, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah Saturday , paid a visit to Owo women at the Smart Green school, Owo, Nkanu East local government area of Enugu, where she celebrated them and distributed bags of rice and wrappers to them .
She said the visit was her first official visit to the women of Owo community. According to her , the visit was
to interact with the women and celebrate their strength and resilient.
Mrs Mbah expressed joy to be back in Owo community, a community she said , that holds a special place in her heart. .
She reaffirmed her commitment to the community’s growth and development, announcing the launch of a new initiative dedicated to the women of Owo, recognizing them as the foundation of their homes and families.

The Governor ‘s wife stated that the initiative was a launch of a new programme for Owo women , designed to support and interact with the women, providing some relief from the burden of economic hardship, including food crises and other challenges. Mrs Mbah acknowledged that while the support offered, might not be extensive, it is intended to help during difficult times.
She stressed that economic empowerment is not only about financial independence but also about enabling women to make informed decisions, assert their rights, and contribute meaningfully to society.
Mrs Mbah said the new initiative program will be extended to other parts of the state.
She commended the efforts of the women in uplifting their families and encouraged them to discover their inner strength and pursue their dreams.

Believe in yourselves and pursue your dream,” she admonished the women.
The first lady thanked her husband, Governor Peter Mbah for his support to the upliftment of women in Enugu state .
In a welcome address, the Commissioner for children, gender affairs and social development, Mrs Ngozi Enih, commended the wife of the Governor Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah for her support and welfare for children and women in the state

In a remark, the wife of the ALGON Chairman and Chairperson , Nkanu East local government area, Mrs Rita Edeh on behalf of the wives of the chairmen in the state appreciated the wife of the governor for her humility and motherly care for the children and women in the state. She assured the first lady of their unalloyed support for her program for development of children and women in the state.
Highlights of the event were march past and display of cultural dances by various communities as well as distribution of bags of Rice and wrappers to the women by the Governor’s wife
