Jaiye, ESUT pioneer Registered Nurses laud Gov Mbah over issuance of licences

Special Adviser to the Governor of Enugu state on Health, Dr Yomi Jaiye and the pioneer Registered Nurses who graduated from  the  Department of Nursing, Enugu State University of Science and Technology ( ESUT) after Seven years of stagnation have commended the Governor Peter Mbah for making their registration possible.

Speaking with Newsmen shortly after presentation  of the professional Nursing licences to the Nurses at the Government House Clinic, Enugu, Dr Jaiye ,said  the pioneer  students were 70 in number and had written their Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria ‘s examination recently , and received their professional Nursing licences.

Expressing gratitude to the graduates for their commitments and Governor Mbah for his support in seeing the Nurses received their licences, Dr Jaiye, who represented Governor Mbah said, “we are excited to see that our pioneer graduates of the Department of Nursing, ESUT are having their licences to practice and to go on their internship today, three months after induction.

“We know that they have experienced a lot of delays, Their program was so cumbersome  and they had  experienced some difficulty that could make anyone to give up but these strong , resilient Nurses about 70 of them that the Enugu state University of Science and Technology has released today with resilience , we can achieve everything  and we want to appreciate the commitments and the greatness of  to our dear governor Peter Mbah, who jumped   forward on this and looked at all the backwardness that slowed their carrier , collaborated with the Nursing Council and today, they have their licences to go and commence their internship that  is very critical to their progress, You cannot go further without internship, this is what we have achieved today,” he said.

Assuring that the state Government will ensure the Registered Nurses will go for their internship, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health said, “we will work in collaboration with our teaching hospital to see that they can commence their internship programs before another person.

“We will collaborate with the Chief Medical Director (CMD)  to see if they can commence their internship before another person. Immediately the portal is opened  for internship in Parklane, we will make sure they are our priority . We can guarantee that.  The other thing we will be looking at is  based on the fact that His Excellency wants to retain a lot of health workers .

“By the time they will be finishing their internship our International hospital should be getting ready . We will train them to meet the standard of that Enugu  International hospital . His Excellency wants to retain a lot of Health workers  It is one thing to want to do something and it is another thing to do it “, Dr Jaiye said.

On strengthening the Department of Nursing,ESUT, Dr Jaiye said,

“We will also try to see how to reposition the the Department so that such delays will be a thing of the past in the Department We are working with the Dean,the Head of Department 

We want to make sure that we keep them. We want to retain them. They are very smart. We won’t want to loose them and the only way to keep them is to take care of them and I believe Barrister Peter Mbah is equal to he task.

 On their part, the students thanked  Governor Mbah for his benevolence .The class Representative, Registered Nurse Ananuka Ebuka Godwin , who spoke on behalf of the pioneer students, said , ” On behalf of my  claas ,the pioneer set of the Nursing Department, Enugu state University of Science and technology, we want to say thank you thank you to the Governor of Enugu state , Dr Peter Mbah  

 for what he has done for us , from the  point of our accreditation to the point of our induction and now , making sure  we get our licenses. He has been so good to us, very committed to ensure that  we  get to greater heights as Registered Nurses, he said.
