Governor of Enugu state, Dr. Peter Mbah has brought succour to the family of Anthony Ugwumgbo, husband of one of the victim’s of the January 25,2025 Onyeama fuel tanker fire disaster, Mrs Benedette Ugwumgbo, from Nsude in Udi local government area of Enugu state, who has been in the hospital for the past five months.
Anthony Ugwumgbo who spoke to newsmen after his visit to the Governor on Wednesday at his office in Government House, Enugu, said his wife was on admission at Orthopedic hospital,Enugu and left the hospital because of financial issues.
Ugwumgbo ,who is a Driver of a commercial vehicle ( working for someone) said he was with his wife in the hospital for months and during the period, the owner of the vehicle he was driving took back his vehicle from him and gave it out to another person , hence, he had no money to pay the hospital bill and purchase blood for transfusion for his wife

“My name is Anthony Ugwumgbo. I came here because of the fire incident that occurred at Ugwu Onyeama on 25 January,2025. My wife was one of the victims of the fire disaster. She was admitted at Orthopedic hospital,Enugu. We were there for five months and I could not take care of her medical expenses. I could not purchase blood for transfusion. We were billed N690,000”, he said..

According to him, the bill was too much for him and he had to cry out for help.
“Since the bill was too much for me I have to cry out and one man called Onyishi ( Governor’s Senior Special Assistant on New Media, Dr. Reuben Onyishi) made it possible for me to get assistance from the Governor.
“I thank Dr. Reuben Onyishi ,who heard about our predicament and informed the Governor. I thank him for assisting me to see the Governor who gave us a sum of N2million . May God bless Governor Mbah. May God bless Dr. Reuben Onyish for their assistance.i.
