Peaceland College of Education wins intellectual debate in Enugu

Students of Peaceland College of Education (PCE), Enugu  has won interschool debate organised by the Nigerian Students Legislative Council,  Enugu Chapter.

The competition which took place on Saturday at Mama Pia Hall, Peaceland University, Enugu, was contested by 8 higher institutions. They debated  on the topic, “Capping Agency Legal Fee at ten percent is negatively impacting the Real Estate Sector”.

The  institutions that participated  were PCE, Enugu State College of Education (Technical), Enugu,  University of Nigeria Enugu Campus (UNEC) Enugu State University of Science and Technology (ESUT) ,Institute of Management and Technology (IMT) Enugu,  Enugu State Polytechnic, Iwollo, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), and Federal Corporative College, Oji River, Enugu State.

Reacting to the feat, the Chairman, Governing Council, PCE, Rev Fr Prof. Leo Chidi Ilechukwu said the victory was a testament to the college’s commitment to fostering intellectual growth, critical thinking, and effective communication among its students.

He said that as a formative institution, the students were made to understand that they should always go for the best in whatever they do as nothing short of the best was good enough.

He said the school’s team known as “Victorious Team”   had Akpan Helen, Hyacinth Chizoba and Chiemezie Praise who  represented the college for the debate

Ilechukwu added that the Institution’s achievement was a source of pride for Peaceland College.

He explained that team arguments were characterized by clarity, coherence, and persuasive power, ultimately convincing the judges to award them the top prize.

“We are confident that this success like others before will inspire future generations of students to engage in intellectual debates and discussions” Rev Fr Prof Ilechukwu said.

He commended the staff, management and students of Peaceland Group of Institutions for their dedication and commitments to duties, saying they were were yielding positive results.

The Dean, Student Affairs, PCE , Usulor Jacob congratulated the victorious team for their outstanding achievement and encouraged other students to always participate in extracurricular activities that promote intellectual growth and development.

A member of the victorious team that represented the school, Akpan Helen, praised the management of PCE for providing the students with the enabling environment to thrive.

She dedicated the victory to the entire students of the College.

It could be recalled that Peacelaned University, Enugu , recently ,emerged the overall winner at the Enugu Tech Festival competition organized by the Enugu State Government with a prize of one million naira after defeating eleven other higher institutions in Enugu State.
