……Releases 100,000 dollars for nutrition
Enugu state Governor, Dr. Peter Mbah has charged Local government chairmen in the state to take charge, and supervise Smart schools, Primary Health Centers and farm estates projects being executed in their local government areas, giving them August,2025, as deadline for the completion of 260 Smart schools and PHCs projects ,ahead of Schools’ resumption in September.
This was made known on Thursday by the state ALGON chairman and chairman,Nkanu East local government area,,Hon. Sydney Edeh, the chairman of Nsukka Local government area, Hon. Jude Asogwa, and chairman of Aninri Local Government Area, Hon.. Prince Ugochukwu Nwanjoku , while briefing newsmen on the outcome of their meeting with the state Governor, Dr Peter Mbah in Government House, Enugu.

Hon Edeh said the governor charged also them to intensify efforts, follow-up contractors and ensuring that Smart schools, PHCs and farm estates projects completed promptly
Speaking on the farm estates, He said the governor urged them to go to their various local government areas and ensure that the farm estates were established in their various wards
“It is a dream of our governor and we as chairmen , we will make sure that it is achieved” Edeh said. yes He said in Nkanu East, construction of five farm estates were going on in his local government . He added that the chairmen were going to meet again on Wednesday next week to deliberate more on strategies to adopt in their supervision.
Speaking on Smart schools, and the Primary Healthcare Centres, chairman of Nsukka local government area, Hon. Jude Asogwa, said they( the chairmen) had resolved that by August,the whole Smart schools, type 2 Primary Health Centers, and farm estates would be completed..
“We have resolved that by August the whole Smart schools likewise type two PHCs will be completed, and we have also resolved that when they commission the type two Primary healthcare centers, .they are going to renovate all the type one PHCs,” he said..
Asogwa disclosed that the governor will release 100,000 Dollars,to procure nutrition for malnourished children in Enugu state, where the UNICEF is expected to pay their own counterpart fund.
“What he wants to achieve is ,he wants to get a complete package in the sense that if you have a Smart school ready and the children don’t have enough nutrients, it then means they might not understand what they are teaching but once they have enough nutrients even in that Smart school they programmed that they are going to have at least one complete meal a day.
“So, in Primary healthcare , we also resolved that the type two hospitals are going to be completed alongside Smart schools so that they go hand in hand.,” he said.
On road construction , the chairman, who is an Engineer said they were going back to the field to make sure the contractors do their jobs and meet up that August deadline ,”because the whole package is that schools are resuming by September and His Excellency has also assured us that most of the equipment, the gadgets had been procured,” Asogwa said.
He added that they will be holding weekly review of the jobs done to be sure they were done according to specifications.
