Mrs Tinubu distributes food items to 250  vulnerable persons in Enugu

Wife of the President, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu Monday, distributed  food items which comprise 250 cartons of noodles, condiment , packets of spaghetti, semovita and baby food to 250 vulnerable persons , including persons living with disabilities, widows ,the elderly, women drawn from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state.

The programme was the second phase of the  Renewed Hope Initiative’s Social initiative  programme ; donation of food to vulnerable persons in Enugu state.

Speaking at the event held at the Post Primary Schools Management Board(PPSMB)Enugu, Mrs Tinubu who was represented by the wife  of Enugu  state Governor, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah, said the distribution was a second  phase of the food distribution programme flagged-off recently, at the Michael Okpara square, Enugu.

“Oluremi Tinubu is doing this because of her good leadership to alleviate the plights of the less-privileged in the country.

“It may be little but it is something. We are distributing them to 250 selected vulnerable persons and I pledge to distribute my own palliative to those who did not receive today.

“We will keep on remembering and empowering those in rural areas, no matter how little,” she said.

Mrs Mbah commended the wife of the President for her partnership with the state government. She said they will share another food item to people who did not benefit at the second phase . Mrs Mbah disclosed that the First lady has a new program she will unveil soon ,under the Renewed Hope Initiative .

Speaking with newsmen, one of the beneficiaries, Gideon Eze , the chief public relations officer, Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities, who  spoke on behalf  of persons with disabilities thanked Mrs  Tinubu and Mrs Mbah for the gesture. 

He expressed happiness with the palliative he received saying,” I am  happy. All persons with disabilities are happy. We also want to plead with our father,  His Excellency, the governor, that he made us a  very fatherhood promise and yesterday was father’s day. We are still expecting him to fulfil his promise of Disability Commission which he promised us and we hope his amiable wife is remembering us now. I am sure he too will remember us in full as he has been doing before now in other sectors. So, we are very happy to have been part of this “, Ezeh said.
