People of Enugu North senatorial zone have passed a vote of gratitude on the governor of Enugu state, Dr. Peter Mbah for the good works he is doing in the state, especially in their zone, which has 102 out of 260 Smart schools ,102 Type 2 Primary Healthcare centres and 102 farm estates being executed in the 260 political wards of the state., saying his second tenure in 2027 is assured.
The people who made their position known on Thursday during a familiarisation tour of the zone by the wife of the State Governor, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah at Adada ,Nsukka ,said they were solidly behind Governor Mbah ,who has taken care of their requests and brought massive development to the state.
Speaking at the event, the state Deputy chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria(ALGON) ,Enugu state chapter and Chairman of Igboeze North Local government area, Uche Ogalla , said for the past two years Governor Mbah’ and his wife have been manifesting and casting love to the people of Enugu North senatorial zone, through massive development of the zone and empowerment of the people.

He highlighted some of the projects executed by the state Governor Dr. Peter Mbah, which included construction of 260 Smart schools, 260 Primary Healthcare centres, and 260 farm estates in the 260 political wards of the state, in which Enugu zone benefitted largely, having 102 of each of the mentioned projects. Other projects , mentioned were completion and equipping of the International Conference Centre, Enugu, construction of an International hospital,( on going) , construction of 5-Star hotel, renovation of Hotel Presidential among others

Speaking with newsmen, Chairman of Nsukka Local Government, Jude Asogwa said Mrs Mbah’s visit to Enugu north senatorial zone signifies unity. ” Her visit signifies unity. Her visit signifies peace. She has come to interact with our people .It’s just like a homecoming because this is part of her house. So, she just came to interact with the women and know their shortcomings to know where she will come in..
” She also wants to find out that all she is doing for our people get to them. You can see her interacting with the women, You can see the women being joyous . Just day before yesterday the women came back here. We had about four ,five buses . They came here with a whole lot of equipment , cassava processing machines, palm kernel machines,( the mini ones), agricultural products. These were support coming from Custos Care foundation(Her Excellency ‘s pet project) The boys were there in Enugu the other day on training on how to bring up the boy -child . She is just a mother””, he said.
The chairman recalled that the woman her husband cut – off her hand recently in the zone, , was being taken care of by Her Excellency and she( the woman) is a Special Assistant now, working with him.
He described Mrs Mbah as , ” nne ndi Enugu” ( mother of Enugu people). saying, “she is just a model , a queen to us and we will do everything humanly possible to support her and her husband”, Asogwa said.

On his part, Chijioke Ezugwu, chairman of Uzo-uwani Local Government Area thanked Mrs Mbah for the visit. He said , “the large turn out of the people of the zone shows Governor Mbah is doing well in Enugu..
” We are here to receive Her Excellency. We have six Local Government areas in Enugu North senatorial zone, so, we are here to receive her. We are here to support her “, Ezugwu said..
Speaking , the chairman of Udenu Local Government Area, Aka Eze Aka said, ” Her Excellency”s , familiarisation tour of the zone gives the idea that a mother was coming to see her sons and daughters .

Aka said, ” It is an important visit for Nsukka people,( the Enugu North senatorial zone). Our people have started seeing that this government is doing them well. Government that has given them all the things that they requested for a long time . The roads are there, the schools are there ,the hospitals are there.
“She has been doing a lot for our people. Helping them to be a better people , giving them a sense of belonging. Our people have decided that they had to follow Peter Mbah under the rain , under the sun . The development of this area, depends on the people they govern and they had demonstrated that they have the capacity to lead us to anywhere and we also want to show our solidarity to him and his wife. We are in total support of the government,”, Aka Eze Aka said.
Speaking too, Chairman of Igbo-Etiti local government area, Dr Eric Odoh, said Her Excellency ‘s visit was very significant to the people of Enugu North senatorial zone. He said 306 of the state government’s projects were sited at Enugu north zone, which had never happened before. He said Nsukka people had decided to support Governor Mbah for a second tenure
In her speech, wife of Enugu state Governor, Mrs Nkechinyere Mbah expressed gladness being at the area.
Applauding Nsukka people for the warmth reception given her, Mrs Mbah said, “this zone embodied a deep cultural and remarkable resilience and an industrial spirit that distinctly sets it apart. Over the years, the people of this district had made immense contributions to social – economic – political landscape of Enugu state.
” You have achieved quite a reputation . Your unwavering commitment to education, entrepreneurship , community development is unmatched. If there is a breaking idea making waves, it originated here in Nsukka, from what was predominantly civil service -oriented economy turned into an entrepreneurial hub with the visionary leadership of my beloveth husband, our Executive Governor, Barrister Dr. Ndubuisi Mbah, who prioritises education and infrastructure”, she said.
Mrs Mbah urged that the transformation accelerates drastically , dramatically across Enugu state.
Speaking on her visit, she said she came to engage direct with the stakeholders and the resilience women of Enugu North.
“Your insight , challenges and aspirations are essential for shaping policies that genuinely reflect the need of the people. I am particularly eager to explore how we can empower women, enhance social welfare and promote sustainable development. We will build on the government ‘s efforts to support education , health and economic empowerment. Every woman in Enugu north has the opportunity to thrive.,” Mrs Mbah said.
Earlier, wives of the Local Government Chairmen in the zone took turn to speak. They thanked Mrs Mbah for her good works ,visit to the area , and her empowerment programme.
Wife of the chairman of Nsukka local government area, Mrs Stephanie Jude -Asogwa expressed satisfaction with the developmental strides Governor Mbah and his wife had recorded within two years, saying, , “Your Excellency, we are particularly inspired by the works you had done through your initiative, especially in supporting the girl- child education, maternal health and support for widows and the vulnerable group and for the very first time, in the history of our state, the inclusion of the girl- child.
” These are the types of developmental programmes our people need to align with your mission.”, she said.
She disclosed that they had done some developmental programmes in the areas of healthcare and agriculture and needed more, adding that they had challenges which could be solved..
Highlights of the event were cultural dance display and presentation of gifts to the Governor’s wife.
