Tinubu appoints Enugu former speaker member UNN Governing Council

President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Speaker of the Enugu state House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo, member of the newly reconstituted Governing Council of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).

Odo was named the South East representative in a list of key appointments released on Monday, May 27, 2025, by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.

This significant appointment comes as part of the President’s renewed efforts to reposition federal tertiary institutions for excellence and global competitiveness. Rt. Hon. Eugene Odo, a seasoned lawmaker and grassroots leader, is expected to bring his wealth of experience in governance, law, and public policy to bear on the development of Nigeria’s premier indigenous university.

Born and raised in Ukehe, Igbo Etiti Local Government A of Enugu State, Ozor, Ebube Ukehe is renowned for his astute leadership, legislative acumen, and commitment to educational advancement.

His appointment has been widely celebrated in Enugu and beyond.
