Peaceland University students win Enugu Tech competition ……Dedication, hardwork made our students win – VC

Acting Vice -Chancellor of Peaceland University, Enugu, (one of the newly approved private Universities in Nigeria) Rev. Fr. Prof. Leo Ilechukwu has attributed the success of two of the University’s students who emerged winner of the recently concluded Enugu Tech Festival “Hackathon Competition” to dedication and hardwork.

Ilechukwu said this while celebrating Godspower Ojini and Joshua Nnadi , 200 level students in the department of Software Engineering of the University who emerged winner of the competition.

It could be recalled that the duo won N1 million grand price of the competition after defeating other students from eleven tertiary institutions in Enugu State that participated in the competition which lasted for six weeks

The competition was organised by the ministry of Science and Technology, Enugu State.

The candidates were asked to develop a product of their choice in any aspect of life that would be of benefit to the state and move it forward to the next level.

At the end of the competition, the product of Peaceland University, Enugu, represented by Ojini and Nnadi was adjudged the best by the organisers in their product titled, Njem BRT- Bus Rapid Transit).

It was a software design that would make transport system in the state stress free for commuters if adopted by the state government.

Ilechukwu who expressed delight over the feat, said Peaceland University under two years old in existence, defeated the older universities that had federal and state support to grab first position.

He described the success to hard work and dedication on the parts of the students and lecturers of the university.

“If we can achieve this at this age as a University, when we get older, the sky will be our stepping stone,” he said.

The Ag Vice Chancellor used the opportunity to thank the students and staff of the university for their dedication to duty. He expressed gratitude to the students for being focused.

Speaking, the Pro -Chancellor of the university, Prof Felix Ugwuozor, also expressed gratitude to God for His great sense of humor.

According to him, God delights in surprises and the surprises in this context are clear.

“I am grateful to the Enugu State Government for the timely organisation of the science festival because science rules the world.

“To our two students, I say kudos to you for making Peaceland University proud. This milestone is just the beginning of what the university and the students, its mentors can achieve,” he said.

He expressed his profound gratitude to the lecturers and noted that the award was a true reflection of their hard work, dedication and commitment.

“This award is our University’s /students’ Academic Performance Indicator”, the Pro Chancellor concluded.

A Programming lecturer from the department of Software Engineering, Kelvin Nnamani said he was so excited to hear the good news.

He boasted that he was sure at the beginning of the competition that his students would take the first position because of the stuff they were made of.

“We are sparing no efforts to make our students the best the world can have,” he added.

A director at Peaceland University, Enugu, Dr Aloysius Ezeagu, also added that he was very delighted to hear the news, saying Peaceland University Enugu emerging top was a testimony of the type of lectures students get at the university

He advised students to always focus on their studies, avoid cultism, and shun exam malpractice.

‘To the students that represented Peaceland University at the competition, I wish both you well in your future endeavors as the world is waiting to benefit from your talents,” he said.
