Barely two weeks after a lifeless body of a pregnant woman was seen hanging on a cashew tree along the Ideani/ Uke road in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra state ,another lifeless body of a yet-to-be-identified individual has been found hanging on a tree in Amichi, Nnewi South Local Government Area of the State.
The ugly incident reportedly occurred deep in the bush in the community, where the deceased was found dangling on a mango tree.
According to the Anambra State Police Command, an unknown individual had reportedly used the deceased’s phone to contact the police, through which the information about the body’s location was disclosed.
In a press statement made available to newsmen on Saturday, the Police Public Relations Officer , Anambra state Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the Commissioner of Police, Ikioye Orutugu, had already directed police operatives to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident.

He said the CP described the incident as disturbing, and has charged operatives across the State to step up surveillance and intelligence gathering with a view to nipping crime and criminality in the bud, as well as demystifying this particular case and others of its kind.
Ikenga said the body had been recovered and deposited in the morgue, SP Ikenga also confirmed that efforts are ongoing to contact the deceased’s family and to ascertain the possible motive or cause of the death.
He reiterated the commitment of the Police Command under CP Orutugu’s watch, to ensuring the safety and security of all residents of the State, and to also bring to justice anyone found culpable in any form of criminality.
As at the time of filing this report, calm has returned to the area and police said further updates on the investigation will be communicated.
