Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese -,Most Rev D.r. Callistus Onaga has urged Christians to continue to live a good life , abstaining from sin as they practiced during the lenten period noting that the resurrection of Christ brought salvation to man and eternity.
He gave the admonition recently during his Easter message in his office in Enugu.
He said Jesus Christ died to save man from the dead. “He died on a good Friday and on the third day he resurrected . The main substance remains that Jesus Christ rose from the dead.
” After His earthly life, he died the way he died through crucifixion and rose on the third day as he promised. By the grace of God he was able to over power the devil.

” The core denominator is that he rose
after dying and it’s a fulfilment of the promise that he will rise from the dead .As He died, he went down to the dead, stayed with the dead and rose from them on the third day; giving life to the dead, destroying the power of death; rising from dead and making it possible for all mortals to resurrect; come back to life and that very event is the center of the Christian faith. . It is full eternity. If Christ had not resurrected, our own prayer, our belief ,would have been nonsense ” he said.
Explaining further on eternity, Bishop Onaga said, “resurrection of Christ gave us the hope that everybody will die and after the death will resurrect., (life eternity. Christ’s resurrection is a fulfilment of his promise. ,after this life , there is another life and that life is eternal . It is not limited to any condition. It is in the resurrection that the work of salvation takes place . Don’t forget those things we did during lent after the lenten period. The resurrection and the life of the resurrection should be continued. That should represent the real life of eternity ” he said.
He urged Christians to continue to live good life. “Let us not forget those things we did for this great feast. We should drop all those bad habits. Resurrection and the life of the resurrection should reflect good aspect of your fasting . Those things that were not good that you dropped you should continue to promote because that should represent the real life of eternity. That should represent the life of a good person, it should represent the life of a good child of God,” Bishop Onaga said.
