Enugu State Ministry of Education says it has registered 40,000 candidates for the 2025 West African Examination Council (WAEC) and has also commenced the registration of candidates for the National Examination Council (NECO) warning schools, especially private ones against charging outrageous and extraordinary WAEC and NECO .
The Commissioner for Education, Professor Ndubueze Mbah in a statement made available to Newsmen on Monday in Enugu, said the approved fees were WAEC , N28,000.( registration N27,000 plus N1,000 processing fee. while NECO is N30,000, being (N27,000 plus N500, and N2,500) payable to NECO.

Professor Mbah threatened legal prosecution, dismissal from service, revocation of approvals and licenses of schools involved in such practices. He urged parents to take action, to report any school found wanting.
