Enugu launches  N20 Billion State Security Trust Fund as Gov Mbah urges support for sustainability

Enugu state  Government, Thursday , launched the State Security Trust Fund tagged , “Enugu State Security Trust Fund ( ESSTF) aimed at strengthening security  in the state .

Speaking at the launch of the N20Billion Security Trust Fund  held at the Old Government Lodge,  Enugu, the State Governor, Dr.Peter Mbah, said the aim was to ensure  maximum security of lives and property of the citizens, acknowledging that security and welfare of the people is the primary responsibility of the government.

He called on the people of the state to support the project by donating to the initiative.for the initiative to be sustained. The Governor noted that “security is the most important sector upon which all socio-economic goals of the states and nations rest,” adding that  nothing kills the spirit of enterprise as fast as a prevailing air of insecurity.

The governor maintained that development and security have become inexplicably intertwined in the world, saying his administration’s audacious growth plan is to make Enugu the premier destination for investment, leisure and living.

He emphasized that the target to make the state the conferencing capital of Africa and also attract three million tourists annually would not be achieved if there is no security assurance.

Dr. Mbah said the Enugu State and Control Centre is a logistical novelty built by cutting edge innovation comparable to what exists in more advanced countries.

He expressed optimism that  the target of N20 Billion they have set  for security in 2026  will not only be achieved but surpassed.

Earlier, the chairman of the state Security Trust Fund, Dr. Ike Chioke said the initiative was  a N20Billion initiative aimed at securing Enugu state  through strategic funding, collaborative partnerships, and innovative security solutions. He explained that it is a Public Private Partnership (PPP) initiative  designed to pool resources, expertise, and efforts to address insecurity and criminality challenges in Enugu.

Dr. Chioke added that the initiative was also  in  response to the need to improve the security infrastructure of the state while fostering development and prosperity for its residents.

In his remarks , the Chief Launcher, Chief Engr Arthur Eze urged the people of the state to support the initiative. .Over N2.5 Billion was realized at the launch that attracted business owners, political class and Entertainment industry among others.
