Bishop Onaga attributes hardship to leaders’ inability to address insecurity

Catholic Bishop of Enugu Diocese, Most Rev (Dr.) Callistus Onaga, has lamented the spate of insecurity  in Nigeria , attributing the hardship and high cost of commodities in the country to the leaders’ inability to fight insecurity.

The Bishop spoke at his 2024 Christmas  message held in his office at Bishop’s Court ,Enugu.

He also lamented the kidnapping of citizens, calling for release of Bishop Okpala who was kidnapped .

Onaga, who  lamented that necessities such as yam, rice, clothing , shelter were no longer affordable to the common man due to increasing costs, urged those  in government to address the problem.

He said  it was becoming increasingly difficult for Nigerians to afford basic things of life, asking those in authority to begin to make things easier for the people.

He frowned at the way and manner Nigerians hike prices of commodities , appealing to them to stop worsening the suffering of fellow Nigerians with outrageous price hikes in household items during the festive period.

Bishop Onaga observed that the current hardship to the government’s failure to address insecurity had prevented people from cultivating their farms.
