Enugu State Chapter of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) has urged women journalists to intensify awareness and knowledge-sharing to combat violence against women and girls.
This call followed a peaceful protest held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat, marking the 16th day of activism for the elimination of violence against women and girls (November 25 – December 10, 2024).

According to the Chairperson , NAWOJ Enugu State,Comrade Ngozi Ngene, increasing awareness and sensitization on laws such as the Violation of Against Person Prohibition Bill and Administration of Criminal Justice laws is crucial.
The Association believes that awareness campaigns can significantly reduce violence against women and girls.
To this end, NAWOJ Enugu State is encouraging women journalists to leverage their media platforms to amplify the campaign against violence.
The association emphasizes the importance of ensuring speedy justice for victims and holding perpetrators accountable.
NAWOJ , Enugu State seeks to change the narrative, challenge violence , and ensure that women and girls are heard and protected.
