Over 20 medical and dental students, along with a house officer, have been kidnapped by gunmen in Benue State, Nigeria, on their way to a neighbouring state for national convention.
The incident occurred around 5:30 pm on Thursday in Otukpo area of the state The students who were reportedly from the University of Maiduguri and the University of Jos, were going for the Federation of Catholic Medical and Dental Students (FECAMDS) annual convention in Enugu.
Police public relations officer,Benue state Police Command, , DSP Catherine Anene, confirmed the report. She said, “Yes, the report of the kidnapping is true. It was received between 5:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., and an investigation is ongoing.” She added that, no demands for ransom have been made.
