Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah has advised youths to embrace leadership, entrepreneurial and innovative spirit inorder to be self -reliant and contribute positively to nation building.
He gave the advice on Saturday,June 22, during the maiden edition of the Enugu Leadership and Business Summit 2024 organised by Enugu Innovative Youths (EIY) at the Church of Redemption Resource Center, University of Nigeria, Enugu campus,Enugu.
Speaking at the summit with the Theme, “The Role Of Youths in Building A New Enugu,” Governor Mbah urged the youths to pursue greatness and cultivate the mindset of life-long-learning to enable them achieve their dreams in life.

Represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Prof Chidiebere Onyia,, Governor Mbah noted that the theme of the summit resonated deeply with the youths’ collective aspirations underscoring the pivotal role youths play in reshaping the destiny of Enugu State whether through entrepreneurship, advocacy or public service.
He urged the youths to embrace leadership noting that leadership is not confined to boardroom or legislative chambers but it begins with self awareness, commitment to integrity, empathy and ethical conduct.
He described leadership as the courage to take initiative, resilience to navigate challenge and compassion to uplift those around you.

He said,” True leaders inspire trust, empower others and champion inclusivity. Remember to uplift those around you when ascending the ladder of success. This is because true greatness is not measured by personal accolades you receive but by the positive impact you have on others.
“Your contribution matters and you have power to make a difference. The time to lead is now and the world is waiting for you,” Mbah said

In a lecture titled , “A Limitless Potentials of Enugu Youth”, member representing Enugu North and South Federal Constituency, Hon. Chimaobi Atu, urged youths to embrace innovation and acquire digital skills and networking, explaining that , that would help them to solve complex challenges facing the society as well as discovering their hidden potentials..
He commended Enugu state Governor ,Dr. Peter Mbah for his commitment in Youth empowerment. He said,” the Governor is committed our admiration. We are getting it right in Enugu state in the area of job creation and youth development .”
Atu said they had awarded scholarship to over 403 students and paid their fees for West African Examination Council (WAEC) and NECO. He added that 159 youths were trained on skills acquisition, gave them capital and materials ro start up and and they were doing well.. The lawmaker urged youths to make a name for themselves , acquire skills that will shape their future

In his speech on “Youths And Drug Abuse”, member representing Nkanu East and West Federal Constituency, Hon. Nnolim Nnaji, said drug abuse posed socio-economic effect and endangers the future of youths.
He advised youths to stay away from any form of drug abuse in order to build the desired and sustained society the state and country craved for.
Nnaji attributed youths involvement in drug abuse to idleness and peer pressure. The Lawmaker urged youths to learn skills and be better engaged. He advised them to stay away from illicit drugs

Earlier in his opening remarks, the Convener and Spiritual Director of EIY, Rev. Chimaobi Aninwene, said the summit was aimed at gathering youths to educate them on the need to be part of the happenings in Enugu and the country.
He observed that , “Before this time many youths think that to be a youth is just about a particular age. Youth need to understand who they are to value themselves.
“We want to be part of innovation and creativity going on in the country as well as partnering with Mbah because of his developmental strides within one year in office,” he said.
The Convener said participants were drawn from the 17 Local Government Areas of the state
Highlights of the event were the presentation of the Best Innovation Award of the year to Enugu State Governor, Peter Mbah and presentation of N100,000 each to three youths for their education There were questions and answers session.
